Whaler’s Base & Millar’s Beach
Between 1923 and 1933 the Ross Sea Whaling Company of Norway made 9 expeditions to Antarctica while using a base in Paterson Inlet. ‘The Whaler’s Base’ was used to repair the whale chasers in between whaling seasons. Explore the relics still to be seen at the base, with an optional walk to Millar’s Beach, on our custom water taxi drop off and pick up service. Or, join one of our guided tours and benefit from your skipper’s fascinating commentary, with on board guide books and photographs to enhance your historical experience.
What to bring
- Adequate footwear (joggers/ sport shoes are usually suitable for this area, however the walk between the Whaler’s Base and Millar’s Beach can get very muddy during rain)
